Grocery Shopping
Today's big project was grocery shopping for Chris' birthday dinner. As the day promised to be warm, we got an early start to the store. We're making shrimp scampi for the meal, so our shopping needs were modest.
Still, shopping in a German grocery store is challenging from both linguistic and cultural aspects. It's hard to get used to the simple act of grabbing an item from the shelf and casually trying to read the label in German, or to overhear people discussing things that you have no chance of understanding. It's also strange to see egg cartons (with 10 eggs) stacked on unrefrigerated shelves for sale. Mostly, it's the same, so the differences are accentuated.
Home Again
After dinner, we took a short walk around the condo complex where Chris lives. This time of year, the sun sets about 10 pm, so we had plenty of light.
We walked and talked in the warm evening air. I shot a few flower pictures and we headed home.
