Bloomberg-Zollhaus Antique Steam Train
June 14 2019
We left Konstanz after breakfast on a train to Donaueschingen, where we were to meet Patrick. He was treating us to a ride on steam train near his childhood home, and then we would have dinner, and ride home to Chris' place. We were surprised when Steffi, Chris' buddy from the office showed up. We all piled into Patrick's car and headed for the train station.
Built in 1886, the steam engine , track and cars have all been restored. The train operates over a closed loop of track, with tunnels and bridges. The trip takes about 3 hours.
A long time train buff, the "huff-huff" of the steam engine and the loud steam whistle were like music. A train museum displayed an impressive colletion of train gadgets.
We finished a splendid day with a terrific meal in a nearby German restaurant. The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed our food on the patio.
Health Report: Still fighting a nasty cold. My cough, like a bark, scares poor Lilly the cat, who runs like a rabbit when she's in the room.
