New Orleans: The last day

Last walk around our neighborhood

We slept pretty late on our last day, straggling into the dining room for breakfast at 9. We ate a buffet breakfast, then back upstairs to pack. Checkout time was noon, and we estimated we'd need to leave for the airport by then. We checked our bags and went for one last stroll.

A lucky consult with the concierge: the taxi is cheaper than the shuttle to the airport, and run whenever you want one. We used a taxi and saved $8 for a much staighter ride. (Turns out the cab fees for airport travel are fixed by law at $36 for up to 2 people.)

At the airport, we had the briefest TSA encounter I've ever heard of, almost not stopping thru the scanners, and certainly less than 1 minute with no line at all. We were in the waiting lounge for our flight 2 hours before it would leave.

We had a great flight on Southwest, and took the #51 bus home. A smooth end of a great trip!
